A master at work

Dan Don Santos was one of the awesome artist I got to see at Comic Con this weekend. His work always takes my breath away, and seeing some of it in person was incredible. This is a trailer from Massive Black for the upcoming DVD on painting book covers. You know what is on my wish list.

A wet rainy Monday

Well, I didn't get any work done on Ice Skating. We had company this weekend, and so my grand delusions of finishing it came to not. But instead, I offer you the art of this beautiful artist, Rebecca Guay. She has illustrated many books, and graphic novels. I have simply fallen in love with her use of colors, and her paintings are so peaceful, even when they are "horrible". Take some time to check out her website and be impressed.

Artist Spotlight: Jimmy Pickering

Some one gave me the link to Jimmy Pickering's website today, seeing some similarities between my style and his. One look, and I knew I had found a new favorite artist. He has worked with Disney, and done many books. He describes his style as "a dash of pirates of the Caribbean, a smidgen of the haunted mansion, a pinch of its a small world, combined with equal parts funny face drink mix, freakies cereal and crazy foam." Awesomeness.

Author Robert Jordan dies at age 58

I am so sad today. Those of you who know me know that Jordan (born James Oliver Rigney, Jr) has been one of my favorite fantasy authors for a long time. First we lost Madeline, then Pavarotti, and now Jordan. This has been a rough month for artists.

Robert Jordan blog

I first discovered the Wheel of Time series when I was 11. Strangely enough, it was my step-father Albert who brought them to my attention. We were at a garage sale, and he picked up the paper back version of Book 1 and 2, and brought them over to me, "I thought you might like these." Well, I did. I loved them, I read them immediately, and thus began my addiction to the series. My uncle and father helped feed the need by letting me borrow/buying me the books in the series as they became available. The Wheel of Time series was such an escape for me, a wonderful world to disappear into when I needed to get away. I am so grateful that he shared his talent with the world.

Some one else made a green fairy

I've been shown up. Bobby Chiu is an awesome artist, each of his character sketches have such personality. He is the creator of the Subway Sketch Group (people getting together on public transit to sketch those around them). Check out his website.
