Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Part 2

I would like to get this image done in time for SCBWI, so I am working hard on it. You should notice that is has changed significantly from the sketch. I felt that the house behind her just wasn't working compositionally, or colorwise. So I re-worked the background, and put her into a forest.

The seven dwarfs are going to be challenging, but fun. I just hope I can get it done in time.

Snow White and the seven drawfs WIP

Here is the sketch for a new painting I'm working on of Snow White. I always loved her character. Probably because we shared the same condition: fair skin and very dark hair. As a little girl, that made me free very special. Now that I'm an adult, I just thinks its a little creepy for a young woman to be living with seven short men. Here are two quick color studies. I'm going with the purple dress.

More progress on Horse and Boy cover

A few more hours of work. I think I'm finally happy with the horse. I changed the perspective a bit.

Beefing up the portfolio

One new painting finished this weekend, and a new WIP started. The WIP is a book cover, for my portfolio, of one of my favorite books in the Narnia series: The Horse and His Boy. I will also be doing three gray scale illustrations to go with it.

I've been doing much better at over coming my fears. I've been putting myself out there more often, and biding for as many jobs as I can. Problem is, I'm still not getting the amount of work I need. I took another step today, and contacted a local created recruiting company called Creative Focus. Clients contact them when they are looking for designers, managers, illustrators, etc. They take care of the rates, contracts, etc. I'm hoping that they will help me bring in a more steady stream of income, and experience.

Egbert, new doll WIP

Here is Egbert. He will be holding a dragon egg. Making him has been so much fun, he kept me up til 11 last night, even though I had to work today...

Special kudoes to Susanne, for lending me her camera so I can take pictures again!

Remember this one?

I am determined to finish it, and with the weather this weekend, maybe I will (lots of rain, so lots of snow in the mountains)

WIP: Ice Skater

This little darling appeared on my sketch book today during lunch (right between the flapper and gargole). She looked so happy, I had to paint her.

New WIP: Grow

This is my WIP for the Illustration Friday topic, Grow. I needed to leave Come Play With Me sit for a little while til I figure out what I'm doing with it. But this lovely lady is working out. I'm really enjoying the colors and her big beautiful eyes.

I couldn't help it...

I TRIED to stick with the first picture, but I got bored with the colored pencils. Sigh. This was just a doodle, and playing around with this digital watercolor technique, but I love how it turned out.

I was pretty down this morning, I think because I have so much I want/have to do, but not enough hours in the day, since I am at work from 7:30am to 6:30 pm. That leaves me very little time at home to do dinner, dishes, laundry, AND marketing, auctions, art, community, etc. :p
But this morning, I did get some stuff done, I sent off my portfolio to four different publishers, and got two ACEO's up for auction as well. So I accomplished what I set out to do today.

WIP: Jungle Dancer

Coloring a sketch with colored pencils. Its been a while since I've only used pencils on a picture. Slow going. :p I didn't like the drawing so much, but I am trying to develop the discipline to finish everything I start. So its getting color.

Sketched this a week ago, time to start painting. Wish I'd started with better paper. :\

New WIP Fairy

Here is my new watercolor fairy WIP. I'm really enjoying working in watercolors. I think I may be finally getting the hang of them. Maybe. :) I haven't decided what color to do her wings yet...

Pencil thief

I swear, there is a pencil thief living in my house. Every time I need a pencil to draw something, I can't find one. I'm an ARTIST, hello? How can I not find a pencil when I need one?! Sigh. Started this new watercolor, and got several PA pictures done as well. And caught up on Design Star. My vote is for Kim, if anyone cares. With no hubby around, I can gorge on design shows to my hearts content.

Progress on Fairy

Got some more painting done last night. I will be adding the wings and crown back in, some more work on the hair and dress. Though, whether I will be able to work on it this weekend, we will see. Since I will be tearing about the studio, again, to paint. YAY.

Another WIP

Yes...yes. I know finish one first...

Anyways, I'm working on a new picture, in ArtRage. If it turns out well, I want to turn it into a postcard mailer. It is titled "Show and Tell"

Painting update

More painting tonight. I meant to finish the background before getting the dress to this point, but oh well. :p Background is not done cause I keep changing my mind about what I want to do.

Watercolor update

Had a little time last night for painting, and started to work on the dress. I like the colors so far, but I need to deepen them more. I need to get some more ACEO or something done today and tomorrow to get up for auction. I'm trying to keep plugging away, and not get discouraged over a slow sale period. I must just view this as cheap advertisement, even if things are selling, they are still being seen by people.

New WIP

I'm spending the weekend with mom, so I thought I'd leave you all with that latest WIP based on a photo (and costume) done by Andrea. And now you have to wait three whole days for an update. Boo-hoo.
